Anndion Lodge is located at 143 Anzac Parade, on the banks of the Whanganui River, just a short drive from the city centre and is centrally located to Wanganui's tourism attractions and sporting facilities. Excellent service and facilities including free internet (including wireless). Bathrooms are shared, rather than attached to rooms (at least in the cheap rooms we stayed in) and location is a bit far out of town to walk (but we had a car). Other than that, excellent.

Great lodge on the bank off the wanganui river - a little bit out of town if you dont have a car.Excellent Hosts,great facilities,pricing at the top end of a backpackers though ! - thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would use again.

Friendly, welcoming hosts. Great kitchen facilities with complementary condiments of all sorts. Lovely setting by the river, and attractive grounds. Good choice of standards of accommodation. Very family and child friendly.

I was surprised to find that it was a backpackers rather than a motel. That said, toilet and bathroom were only shared between two 2-person rooms and were in their own separate corridor with the rooms so there wasn't a problem in any way. Free Internet, coffee, tea and milk and an extremely well-equipped kitchen, a nicely appointed dining room, a pleasant pool and a nice spa all helped to make for a pleasant stay. Unfortunately Sky TV in the rooms was linked to the lounge decoder so it was necessary to watch whatever the person in the lounge was watching. A warm welcome from Ann on arrival plus Dion was a charming and helpful host and he and Ann have created a very nice and warm hostel. Add to that the excellent price and it really is an excellent package. I would recommend it to anyone who is not overly concerned about en suite facilities.
