Angkor Hotel

1. Staff very friendly and accomodating. 2. Ordered a taxi (previous night at the front desk) to depart on Sunday 27.1.08 from the Hotel to Siem Reap Airport for 06.00am ! Taxi did //not// show up. Hotel receptionist told us: "Sorry, taxi driver overslept. He will not come !" After saying that this would certainly not be "my problem", as a customer, the front desk staff took a quick decision and drove us to the airport by the hotel minibus. Can only say: "Great, Well done. Bravo !!"

The hotel looks old and does not look like a 4 star hotel. My impression of the hotel is a 3 star hotel. The buffet breakfast is below par especially the coffee and tea which are tasteless. The selection of food is limited and the 2 days we stayed there, the selections are the same.

We enjoyed our stay in Siem Reap. The hotel was a great value for the money. It was very clean, cool and the staff was helpful! I would definitely stay there if I was going to Angkor Wat again. We were happy that we had a driver waiting to help us as we got off the airplane. I guess he got our name through the hotel and he drove us around town and the temples for $35/day...a great value, especially for 6 people!

Everything was really expensive in the hotel. I wouldn''t recommend it to anyone. I''m sure you could find something a lot cheaper. The staff were very friendly but very incompetent. We had a few problems with the service during our stay. We were being hassled by a taxi driver and the hotel staff let him into the breakfast room. Noone helped us out. We didn''t feel safe. Also, when we received calls the staff at reception said we were not in our rooms when we were. It was all a bit strange.

It was low season when we went so it was very quiet almost too quiet. At breakfast we had to eat alone in what I can only describe as a big community hall. The food was definitely not four star.

No air conditioning in main hotel during stay. Lift was out of order and no attempt was being made to repair it. Breakfast was a poor affair so much so we ate at a restaurant in town. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was of a good size and had all amenities. In summary we would not return to this hotel and believe it is not a true reflection to the 4 star rating that it holds.

Swimming pool nice, friedly staff, pleasant rooms. One problem, but not unique to this hotel: curtains are very light, so you wake up with the sun. I can recommend the hotels lining for the curtains or darker curtains and/or hotel guest take your eye mask from the plain, it can be useful in Asian hotels if you want to sleep till 7 or 9 o''clock. Alarm clocks or wake up calls are better adjustable than sunrise!

Very nice and in good location: but crazily expensive if compared with other guesthouses in the surrounding, which are very tidy and nice. The breakfast is quite ..sad. Room are nice and well equipped. Never buy in the internal shops: things cost from 5 to 10 times more than outside.

The staff was friendly, although some inexperience on a few people''s part led to a mixup when they were to receive a package for us. Nevertheless, they were fine about everything else, and I would recommend the hotel.

This hotel seems to cater mainly to large groups (organised by international travel companies) and is consequently overloaded at breakfast with tables reserved for specific groups. The fare was pretty awful, also. The location, outside of town on the airport road, is shabby with an industrial neighbour - definitely not attractive. The pool was a blessing, although small and inundated by loud noise from machinery. No, I would not recommend to a friend.

The hotel is full with pack-tourist and does not have the warm Cambodian atmosphere that we found travelling around in the country. Breakfast finish too early in the morning. Good pool.

The hotel is well situated. Just outside the centre of Siem Reap and only 10 min. by car from the Angkor Temples. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. Furthermore, you feel quite safe in the hotel.

Hotel was new, clean and good value for money. Very nice swimming pool. Food average to good. Marvellous Cambodian dance presentation several times each week. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

We prepaid taxi from inside the airport only to find someone waiting outside for us. Had a bit of a struggle getting our $5 back from taxi counter. Would have been good to know hotel gives free airport pickup. Fairly standard 3 star hotel. Rooms and beds clean and comfortable. Serviced twice daily (catching us out with a very untidy room). We only ever use hotel restaurants for breakfasts, but it was acceptable here. Staff were good and polite. Gym equipment was VERY cheap/poor quality and mostly broken, but you go the Siem Reap for a holiday not a serious work out. We travel often, mainly in Asia, and can''t understand some of the negative comments here (except for the gym equipment). The benchmark we always use is if we came to the same city again, would we stay at the same hotel. The Angkor Hotel is not the Hilton, but it''s not costing $250/night. We definitely would stay here again and recommend it as good value for the money paid.

The pool was a definite hit with the children for a midday swim - wonderful and was probably the main reason I chose this hotel. We had requested connecting rooms but were never told this was not physically possible, resulting in our family being separated every night. Staff were very friendly. For the time actually spent in the hotel, it was fine.

The hotel was actually very pretty and the recreation facilities were good. However, there was major contruction going on which we were not informed of. The hotel and the pool were full of construction dust!!! Construction began at 6:00 am so sleep was interupted very early! The dining room was housed temporarily in a conference room without open windows or air conditioning! The renovations will make the hotel wonderful, but staying there while the construction was being done was very annoying! Once it is completed the hotel will be beautiful and a very good place to stay for the money. The food was good and the staff were helpful and welcoming. We would stay here again when the construction is complete!

A spacious hotel, with pleasant public facilities (tho the pool is unshaded all day and like a hot bath!). The front desk staff were helpful in arranging transport . However the food was not up to expected standard and too much effort was made to foist set meals.

Leisure faclities were pretty broken down, exercise machines from work out were poorly broken down, the massage room does not look too exciting as well. But Swimming pool was not too bad consider the money we are paying for. The breakfast was not too exciting as well.
