The Pas de la Casa Rundown ... Read more »
Known by locals as Pas, Pas de la Casa is a ski resort in Andorra located just a few hundred metres from the French border. Andorra is a small country, which uses the Euro, as it has no currency of its own. The first sky-lift in Pas de la Casa was opened in 1957, and there are now over 31 sky lifts in operation. The area is known for being one of the highest points in Europe, offering stunning views of snow-covered mountains. Intermediate and experienced skiers frequent Pas de la Casa, but there are runs for beginners as well. There is a ski school at the resort, which has English-speaking instructors and attracts many English and Irish tourists. There are many hotels located right on the mountain slopes, so you can ski-in and ski-out. Pas is also known for its robust nightlife. There are so many bars and nightclubs offering splendid après-ski amenities. You can also partake in paintball, shopping, sledding and, in the summer, rock climbing.
When To Go
Pas de la Casa is firstly a ski resort, so winters are usually the best times to go. Even when the snowfall is disappointing, Pas has many snowmaking machines, so the fun doesn't have to stop. The winter season starts at the end of November and lasts until April. During the summer, there is lots of shopping, hiking, biking and golf. Pas de la Casa is located at a high elevation, so the air is a bit thin and the temperatures stay a bit cooler. The best skiing is in March and April when the snow is the deepest.
Winter (December through February) averages -3.8° to 12.2°C (25-54°F)
Spring (March through May) averages 6.6° C to 21.6° C (44-71°F)
Summer (June through August) averages 15° C to 26.6° C (59-80°F)
Autumn (September through November) 13.8° C to 15° C (57-59°F)
