Location
The Amstel Botel Hotel is right on the river IJ, right down the road from the former NDSM shipyard.
Rooms
There are twin, double, and triple rooms available. You can choose whether you prefer to sleep on the land side of the boat or the water side. Rooms are basic but spacious, and internet is available at a small charge.
Restaurant
An English buffet breakfast is served until 10:30. The Amstel Botel Bar is the perfect place to unwind or meet new friends, with pool tables, a pinball machine, and a juke box.
General
There is 24 hour reception, free newspapers, bike and car rental available, and the staff is multilingual. The area around the NDSM shipyard is a film, theatre, and art mecca. Many festivals take place around the neighborhood.

Mit der Erwartung vom beschriebenen Luxus und einem erwarteten Komfort eines 3Sterne Hotels sind wir maßlos enttäuscht worden. Wir sind mit einem Badezimmer wo Schimmel sich über die Fugen und den Seifenspender breit machten beglückt worden! Auch sonst ist das Botel ziemlich abgewohnt!, Kaputte Fernbedinung.... Für korpulentere Personen, ist das Badezimmer nicht empfehlenswert da man fast das Waschbecken unter den Arm nehmen muss um auf der Toilette platz zu nehmen. Das Hotel hat weder den angepriesenen Luxus noch entspricht es einem in unseren Breitengraden gewohnten 3 Sterne Standard. Sonst ist das Ambiente mal nett kennenzulernen. Mühsam ist es ständig auf die Fähre angewiesen zu sein, Vorteil diese ist wenigstens kostenlos. Beim nächsten Besuch wähle ich bestimmt eines der vielen, nahe der Centraal Station gelegenen Hotels.

Brakfast was not good. The room was dirty and small. The staff indifferent. Location is not good.

The bathroom is too small. There is a curtain which was very dirty, between toilet and shower. The floor was dirty. There was a chair in the room but I never use it because it was too stained. Even there is no hairdreyer in the room. Breakfast was poor. Everday they served the same breakfast. The man, black slim one, at the breakfast hall was very rude. I was going to have breakfast and the man came from the back side and knocked my sholder and asked for money. Then I did realize that my reservation was not include breakfast. But he could be polite and explaine it or without asking he can add to my bill. I don't recommend this hotel. It is out side of city.

It was an interesting experience staying on the water. Our room was a little close to the main stairway and bar but the gentle motion of the boat got us to sleep while people were still having a good time. All in all it was a good stay. The room was clean, the water was hot at all times, the bar very reasonably priced and in how many places can you open the curtains in the morning to the sight of an old Russian submarine?

A pleasant free 10 minute ferry trip from the central stqtion. Small but comfortable rooms. Great for an Amsterdam holiday
