Ameritania Hotel New York

The position of this Hotel was superb. The bed was excellent and the room and facilities were very comfortable. The air conditioning was noisy and this was reported. The 3 issues I had were 1. there was no coffee or tea facilities in the room. We survived! Just! For the high cost of the accomodation a jug and few coffee and tea bags would have been very welcoming! And cheap to install! 2. the free Wi fi consisted of 1 X I pad for use in the foyer if no one else had it. You could buy it for $10 for 24 hours but then wait! It was only for one item of use. Only for my I Pad. There was no user code so the second person in the room could also use it! In 2012 in New York surely everywhere would have free WI Fi access! 3. Breakfast was very ordinary for $10 per person. No fruit, yoghurt; only croissants, bagels, muffins, juice and coffee/tea. Overall it was a great spot to stay but with the above Disadvantages I would look elsewhere next time.

Within walking distance of everything! Doesnt have a restaurant or breakfast in the hotel but in NYC the options within walking distance are endless! I would stay there every time for the value and location!

Seems the hotel has undergone a number of renos recently, and it's looking quite good, but there are some pretty big issues remaining - like key cards that don't always work with their new system; not getting any hot water in the shower (but it ran hot in the sink - weird); a disconnected phone (though it was plugged into the wall); and a broken towel rack in the bathroom. Not what I'd expect from a hotel that charges $500+ a night. Still, an amazing location and super comfy bed.

I asked if I could grt help getting reservations to see the Christmas Spectacular at Radio Center Music Hall and was told that he would helpus get reservations. This action was on the evening of our arrival. He did not get the reservations for us nor did he tell me Why until we checked out . I am not used to being treated this way and I will not use this hotel again.

Fantastic location and price. Amazing price for discount parking in the area. The lobby is beautiful and the staff is friendly. The rooms are old and outdated. Currently under renovation and i expect it to look great once its finished.

The hotel is located very close to Time Square, and the David Letterman Show is just next door. The hotel was reasonably priced, and I plan to stay there again in the future.

SECURITY ISSUES. A/C DID NOT WORK. BED WAS SO OLD IT CREAKED EVERY TIME YOU MOVED. FILTHY.HORRIBLE. A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY. WINDOW GLASS WAS SO THIN THAT YOU COULD HEAR PEOPLE CONVERSING OUTSIDE. YOU COULDN'T PAY ME TO STAY THERE AGAIN. THE WORST HOTEL I'VE EVER STAYED IN NEW YORK. I DON'T EVEN WANT TO GIVE IT A STAR.

At first I was disillusioned being given a second floor room at the top of a flight of stairs. The room turned out to be nicely remodeled in a Jonathan Adler sort of design and not as over the top as the lobby. I would definitely bring earplus and an eye mask as the ac and street traffic can be noisy during the night. Notwithstanding, the location was great as was the price of the room. I had drinks at Vlada's on 51st--a neighborhood gay bar friendly for all ages. Dinner next door at Braii---African cuisine with a Dutch touch. In the a.m. had eggs and lox at Carnegie Deli just a block away as well. Then walked to Central Park and to the Met to see the Alexander McQueen exhibit. Not bad for a night on the town.

Very good location, the room was very small, and very noisy with people walking passed all the time, and can hear people in other rooms using the bathroom, other than that ok for New York City

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. The staff provided excellent service, care, and advise. They made us feel very comfortable and were very helpful. Our room was large considering location in New York. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was large and very clean. Our room was very quiet. The hotel location was perfect for our stay and we had easy access to transportation. We will be staying at this hotel again.

I have been there for 3 nights, 1 night without hot water. The website looks fantastic, but it is actually quite moderate in reality. I suppose it is expected with the price that I've paid? Nevertheless, it is not a hotel that I would recommend to others.

the first room was like a sauna, about 120 degrees. the wooden blinds were broken so i couldn't close them to darken the room and there were no curtains. i asked for another room which the staff did move me to and there was no heater in it which was preferable and i could open a window but the room was very dark and dingy with no natural light ( i know this is common for new york). i have stayed in 12 different NYC hotels and this is one i wont be going back to. although at the lower end pricing for the market, it felt very overpriced for what was on offer.

Location was perfect, just around the corner to Ed Sullivan theatre on Broadway. Some of the staff were giving great service and again some were unpolite, but in all I'm pleased. Although my room was at the tenth floor I could hear the traffic and construction-work, so maybe earplug should be useful. It didn't bother me much though. I would definetly stay here again.

While otherwise a very very nice hotel, our room (1215) did not seem to have a way to regulate the radiator's heat--if it did, we did not see it. There was an AC control, tho, which we did not need at this stay. Luckily it was not a very cold night, but we are concerned about this if we stay again in the winter, which is very likely as our daughter lives in an apartment building in the same block. We also did not get any kind of information in our room that told us what services, etc, if any, were available thru the hotel (room service, etc). There were two generic NYC tourism magazines but that was all.

An absolutely smashing hotel in a perfect location. Great design, contemporary, intimate, comfy. Great food in every direction. Now my hotel of choice. Superb value $. Go for king size. Standard is quite small.

Right on the corner of Broadway and Times Square it was perfect. Shops were a 10 minute walk. The facilities were basic but perfect for a room only as most days we were out.

Situated on 7th and Broadway, five mins from Times Square. A clean well located and well priced hotel for Manhattan. Nice small bar with excellent friendly staff and an overall good feel about the place. Enjoyed it and would go back.
