Americas Best Value Inn New Orleans Guest Reviews
Americas Best Value Inns are all over the place. So this time when I was booking a hotel in New Orleans on a very short notice, and I was looking for budget options, I decided to go for this one. It is located about 8 miles from the French Quarters and Downtown area. So I had to drive down to the French Quarters in the evening (where Parking is quite difficult to find). Apart from this, every thing else was ok about the hotel. The staff was friendly (more of a no-nonsense kind). They happily converted our room from a smoking rom to a non-smoking room at the time of check-in. The room was the basic. We needed to spend only a few hours in the night after coming back from French Quarters. There was no problem coming back to the hotel late. The area in which the hotel is located also seemed safe. The car park is right in front of the hotel gate anyway. I noticed the the swimming pool was outside in front of the hotel and not very well lit. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for someone who is looking for some poolside fun. I think overall, it was good value for money and a decent place to sleep for a night and take a shower and get ready in the morning.

It was awful. We had no idea that it was going to look like that. My children wanted to swim but the pool was green, the hotel was dirty. We didn't have a shower curtain and the chain was missing out the toilet and the cable was rigged up and didn't work. I guess I got my moneys worth. I also had to spray the sheets for bugs. we spent as little time as possible in that room.

We went to check in, and found this to be less than one star, in reality. The pool, we looked forward to, was condemed. Just in, off the road, as I checked in my bride could not use the restroom, because it was broken.... When they found me in the system, we went up to a hot room, with a hot frig, mold, no smoke detector, hard towells, substandard toilet, etc. We notified management, who gave us a hard time, before they gave us keys to another room. The first room, I would not have housed rodents in. When we let them know the A/C blew warm, while set on cool, they sent a guy with a unit with dirt falling off of it-as we were headed out to eat. Not a guy I wanted to leave with my personals. The second room, I found not much better. It was cool.... There was no hot water, at the sink, still moldy,a Peeping Tom, and a lot of lies. I am not sure this place should stay open, for business, if this is among the average rooms of that area. I was spoken to as if I was a five year old, and forced to think of how a less refined individual would act when yelled at by that boy +/- half my age. I asked him to not yell at me about six times. Let us be clear.... He was about half my age and about 40 pecent my size.... Did I feel threatened? :-} My dad pointed out to me once, an older experianced man knows where and how hard to hit you, to distroy you.... I am middle aged with children that guy's age and experianced beyond his tender years, I used to crush quarter backs larger than him....Now imagin, a fice barking at a german shepard.... My dictionary has the word RESPECT in it. I pre paid, so I was not after anything free. The average pet lives better than I lived while at that place.... And I had my bride with me, in that mess.

It is out on the East Side would be best if you had own transport, hard to get transport from the Airport even the taxis did not want to go "That far" However had a bus stop across the road 20-30 minute ride to Down town for $1.50 and reasonably regular schedule. It was cheap accomodation and while clean, quiet, well serviced and friendly staff parts were aging.
