Altis Hotel Lisbon Guest Reviews
Hotel Altis looks high-end, and is supposed to have a high-end feel, but really disappointed us -- from the moment we arrived. As we got out of the cab, a porter took our luggage. I assumed he was going to follow us to the front desk, but instead he vanished. We got to our room but our luggage wasn't there - after 10 minutes, no luggage. We needed it right away so we could change and leave for our next activity. I called the front desk; still no luggage. I went downstairs and said "forget the porter, just give me the bags so I can take them up myself" but the woman at the front desk refused and just kept promising the luggage would arrive, which it finally did. When we arrived at the room we discovered the room's heat and air conditioning did not work; it just blew room-temperature air. On our way out to dinner I asked the front desk to fix it while we were away. They promised they would, but when we returned more than two hours later they had not yet attempted to fix it. I asked them again to fix it because the room was 60 degrees (F). It was now late, my wife was freezing cold and we wanted to go to sleep but we couldn't until had to wait for a maintenance worker to come upstairs and fix it, which he finally did after another 30 minutes. This hotel has wireless Internet available in the lobby and wired access in the room, but only for the ridiculous price of 20 Euro (30 dollars) per day! And paying this exorbitant amount only buys access for one device - it's 60 dollars per day if you want to use both your laptop and phone! Maybe next they could charge us for electricity and water use? Even to use they internet for 5 minutes so I could check in for my flight they wanted 5 Euro. On the positive side, the rooms are clean and new. The bed is comfortable although too small for my taste (when travelling with my wife). We will not be returning to this hotel - Hotel Lisboa is a few blocks away and we enjoyed it much more when we stayed there several months before.

The halls and rooms are poorly illuminated, but enough so to see that they need to be vacuumed. Upon arrival in my room, when looking for an outlet, I pulled the night table away from the wall and found dust and a few Euros in change, but no outlet. The "hot" entrees at the buffet breakfast were scarcely warm. The fancy high-design plumbing fixtures were confusing and hard to use. But, above all, I felt exploited by a 20-euro per day charge to use hook up to the (NOT wireless) internet in my room with a poor signal. It's a few steps from Avenida da Liberdade, and some nice restaurants, and a short cab ride to most of the city's attractions, but large and impersonal. Really more suited for those attending a convention.

Even the special price was to high regarding what I got. The refridgerator was not working,no glases for drinking beverages.the air condition was not to switch on low level. Therefore totally noise. the room has to be refurbished

Good hotel - would certainly go again. Easy to get to but relied on on-street parking. Good party at New Year! Manager was very welcoming and personally involved with guests.
