We spent 3 weeks in New Zealand and stayed at four different hotels. Our last night at the Airport Lodge really spoils it all. The lodge owner/caretaker was the most unfriendly person that we meet during our entire stay. From the moment he met us at the airport, there was no smile on his face and to each of our questions, he only provided Yes/No or abrupt answers. We asked for direction to a cafe listed in the guest information provided in the room and he just gave brief direction, we walked and walked and it took us about an hour to find the place and then we found out that the cafe actually provides shuttle service! He could have told us! On the day we were supposed to check out, it was pouring and freezing cold but he was adamant that we check out at 10.00am. After checking out, I had the urge to use the toilet and when I asked to use the toilet, he answered "We dont have public toilet here"! What an absolutely rude man. I will never go back to this lodge and will never recommend it!! He is an absolute disgrace and insult to all those nice friendly people that we met earlier.

No dramas. Friendly reception staff only too happy to assist with early morning taxi bookings etc. $13NZD taxi fare to airport. A bit dated, but clean and functional. We had a two room suite which was roomy and had a full kitchen. Would stay there again.

Basic room, but a great choice when flying into Christchurch late at night - their free airport pick up was reliable and quick to respond. Only 5 minutes from the airport. Appreciated the complimentary make up remover, and heated bed (oh so cosy!).

I thought the hotel was over priced; very clean but tired a $90 experience at most $100.
