Aberdeen Douglas Hotel

Amazing staff! One of the best I have ever seen in a hotel of any rating. They are absolute jewels, and keep me coming back to the hotel even though she shows her age, and isn't the most modern hotel in Aberdeen. Orbitz on the other hand, was a disaster with this trip. Booked the Douglas online, via orbitz, paid in advance, and then when I checked in, the staff at the Douglas informed me they did not have my reservation, and they were fully booked. I called Orbitz and they were of NO HELP. Customer service was rude, even though I was speaking to a "supervisor" in Manila, stayed on hold for 16 minutes (while paying for international roaming on my mobile phone) just to be told repeatedly, there is nothing they could do for me. No alternative lodging was offered, and they didn't even seem to care I had no place to stay. No refund yet, and I had to sleep in the office I was visiting. After this experience, I think I am going to avoid Orbitz at all cost.

Ideally located just off the main high street, within easy walking distance of the bus and train stations. Friendly obliguing staff, we enjoyed our stay. Only dislike was the TV on at breakfast time in the breakfast room.

Central location so handy for just about Aberdeen has to offer, some parts of the corridors carpets are a bit worn and my room although a single my window view? was a wall 12inches from my window. But got to say 1st class Breakfast.

The hotel is a little shabby. Parking in a multi-storey carpark about 200 m away.

The room was small and bare, but cosy enough. The price was a bit high for two nights. No hot water first night but were later offered a move, we were too tired, plumber was in next morning to fix water. Breakfast was very good. bar staff friendly but bar food a bit pricey for what it was. Reception staff very nice.Lobby spacious and comfortable, generally a nice hotel. Great location for seeing around and shopping. easygoing.

Fire alarm went off in the middle of the night- about 4am. They said it was something faulty that tripped it off, and then it took them a long time to figure out how to turn it off. No compensation was available when I asked. Got a miserable night's sleep. Plus the walls are kind of thin anyway. The breakfast was good though.

Room telephone was in two pieces (but still worked) and fixtures were all a bit aged, but it was clean and the breakfast was great, and the location couldn't be better.

Have stayed at this hotel several times when it was called different names over the years. Same basic hotel, the best feature is its location, right in the centre of town. Whole place is a bit dated, rooms are small, breakfasts are OK. Good if you want to be in the centre, otherwise there are much better, newer hotels in Aberdeen.

Based in the centre of Aberdeen, it is within easy reach of having a good night out. Restaurants, pubs, theatre etc. all within walking distance. Only complaint is lack of car parking facilities.
