The reception staff were really most helpful. The hotel had a delightful atmosphere, tastefully decorated, lovely outlook from upper balcony, and secluded courtyard for breakfast.

This hotel was an oasis of cleanliness in a charming but grimy city! Travelling with children meant we really appreciated this, together with the very friendly and accommodating service. The top floor library and the custard tarts are also very special! The decor of the hotel has been done extremely tastefully - very different from the run-of-the-mill. We also appreciated the enthusiastic help from staff in relation to restaurant booking - the hotel is very well placed in relation to great Portuguese eateries and it was great to have recommendations and bookings made for us.

Wonderful, lazy breakfasts in a relaxing little garden will prepare you for the day ahead. My only quibble is that they never had cutlery out for breakfast so if you needed another spoon or knife you had to ask. The beds were a bit too hard and pillows a bit too flat. (although, if you ask you can get a different pillow – yes, it’s true the English don’t like to ask). A better policy might be to have a small questionnaire in the room to fill in after the 1st night. The reception staff were extremely friendly. We always walked from the Hotel to Barrio Alto, as the little streets were always interesting, whilst others caught a taxi or private tour car! There’s a bus stop right by the Hotel too. Got a great offer through the web for this Hotel hence the value for money rating. If you pay full price make sure you get a room with views of the river.

Very pleasant hotel with a personal touch, good for some days visiting Lisbon as a tourist. I could imaging, the possibility to take a sauna would be appreciated by many visitors.

Excellent place to stay. Rooms are large, breakfast is good, the library is a fine place to unwind after a day of sightseeing, the beds are European firm which may not suit everyone and they provide a complimentary carafe of port which is refilled daily. The room price is somwhat high but the amenities are worth the money. Incidentally, the hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
